New Beginning...

So many new things have happened recently... It's like the words from the song 'Welcome to Wherever you are' 'Every new beginning is some beginning's end'. So though my time at Cambridge is over and I'm back in the real world, I've just moved house here in Sri Lanka and also am getting ready to start work (that will have to go in another post!) again after a nice relaxing break of a couple of months.

This is the first time we're moving house in Sri Lanka after about 20 years... So it's quite an experience. It's amazing how much garbage you accumulate over the years! This change is also good as I'm learning to break the routine I've gotten into in the last 20 years living in the same place, meeting the same people etc (of course not counting the year in Cambridge!). What I realised was that though initially I thought it would be a bit inconvenient, inconvenience is really relative, it is further away from the city than I'm used to but, just a 20min drive from it! And there are always pros and cons anywhere... While it can be a bit longer for me to travel to work, the surrounding area is much more quieter and I wake up to the sound of bird calls. There are a lot of birds in the area and I want to have a bird bath. It;s nice to move into a house which we built ourselves and we finally also have a large garden.

We also just started to go to a new church, and I was amazed at the dedication of that community to the church. It was a new church which was solely built by the contributions and projects conducted by the community of about 50 people. This Christmas we're all going to bake a huge Christmas cake together.

One thing I do miss though are my cousins who used to live next door, but ofcourse we still visit them regularly... I guess change is inevitable we just have to adapt to it.
